Growing up on the south coast of England, Sam always enjoyed outdoor sports, whether it was kayaking, climbing, rugby or, of course soccer.
His unusually journey took him into the Royal Air Force in 2008, where he spent 7 years serving as a fire fighter. He served on various deployments around the globe. This afforded him the opportunity to experience training in a variety of terrains and climates, from freezing mountainous areas to scorched deserts.
This kind of intense muscle strain increased his understanding of how capable the human body is at adapting. It was during his time in the military that Sam developed an interest in how you can develop your body, both mentally and physically.
